The purpose of treating wastes is to:

1. Reduce the hazard rating of the waste
2. Separate the recovered potion after treatment, thus reducing the volume of waste for ultimate disposal.
3. Treat the waste so that it can be reused in a manufacturing process

The following types of wastes can be economically treated:

1. Liquid wastes by means of an organic or inorganic liquid treatment plant.
2. High hazardous solid wastes by means of thermal destruction.
3. Contaminated soils by means of microbial treatment or thermal destruction.
